We've worked closely with the Google Cast team to ensure that playback of Dolby Digital Plus™ is supported via passthrough.

In order to check the codec support prior to creating the source buffer, use the MediaSource.isTypeSupported() method and check for the following for Dolby Digital Plus:

audio/mp4; codecs="ec-3" 

audio/mp4; codecs="mp4a.a6"
